In a recent Q&A session on Discord, Nexon spoke with fans of The First Descendant. This interaction led the producer to reveal significant updates coming to TFD as soon as March. It’s during this time that Season 3 is scheduled to debut, bringing along a fresh new character. Meanwhile, aside from the producer, the director of The First Descendant has discussed plans for enhancing farming methods and strengthening underperforming characters.
The First Descendant farming improvements
At the recent Q&A session on Discord with TFD_Director_Jooms, someone inquired whether any adjustments would be made to farming mechanics to lessen the need for excessive grinding by players.
In simpler terms, the director mentioned that they are working on enhancing not only the process of farming External Components, but also the entire External Component system.
Jooms clarified that in the near future, they are working on strategies to simplify farming challenges, and they’ll share more details once the plans are fully developed. On the other hand, Nexon is focusing on boosting the enjoyable aspects of their Component System. This will involve significant changes at the system level, so it’s being treated as a long-term goal rather than just an improvement for farming.
Regarding “Void Abyss Metal Fragments”, Nexon intends to boost the reward from Infiltration Operations by increasing it from 400% to 40 pieces, and they’re also contemplating providing extra supplies through special events.
Improving weak characters
Alongside proposals for farming enhancements, the director additionally talked about Nexon’s plans to boost characters that players consider weak. In response to a query regarding their philosophy on balancing, Jooms stated, “our strategy is not just to rely on our own concepts but to take into account community feedback, confirm through data analysis, and rectify any shortcomings”.
The director assured that Nexon is currently balancing the less potent characters to be on par with the stronger Descendants they have. Lately, Nexon has rolled out updates for Valby, Luna, and Jayber, yet these changes have sparked controversy, leading some to claim that Nexon favors female characters over male.
Among the characters presented by the director, one is named Yujin. According to Jooms, enhancements are needed to make Yujin more efficient and user-friendly for single player experiences, and the developers aim to make him more approachable for a wider audience of gamers. Additionally, there are plans in motion to revise Jayber once more due to the unfavorable feedback received from players.
