Gal Gadot & The Old Guard Star Join WWII Thriller Movie Ruin

Actress Gal Gadot and actor Matthias Schoenaerts have formally agreed to play the main roles in Miramax’s upcoming World War II suspense film, titled “Ruin.” This project is under the direction of Niki Caro, who has a history with this genre as she previously directed Jessica Chastain for the live-action Mulan movie and The Zookeeper’s Wife.

Most recently, Gadot played the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action Snow White film, but it failed to meet box office projections, grossing a global total of $200 million compared to an estimated budget of approximately $240-270 million. At present, Gadot is working on Amazon MGM Studios’ action thriller titled The Runner. Additionally, she is set to star in the upcoming drama In the Hand of Dante alongside Dune actors Oscar Isaac and Jason Momoa.

What is Ruin about?

In post-World War II Germany, the story unfolds around a former concentration camp inmate, played by Gadot, who finds herself compelled into an unconventional partnership with a German soldier named Schoenaerts. Together, they embark on a joint mission to bring justice upon a rogue Nazi SS unit.

In the upcoming film titled “Ruin,” Caro is set to serve both as director and producer, with the screenplay penned by the talented duo, Kaz Firpo and Ryan Firpo, who are also known for their work on Eternals. Gal Gadot not only takes the lead role in the cast but also joins as a producer, together with Jaron Varsano under their banner Pilot Wave Motion Pictures. The production will be executive produced by Gillian Hormel from Ludascripts, Mary Aloe for Aloe Entertainment, and both Kaz Firpo and Ryan Firpo. Evan Powell will supervise the project for MadRiver.
