Peacock has recruited three additional main cast members who will join the ensemble of A24’s forthcoming Friday the 13th prequel series, set at Crystal Lake.
For the second occasion, the famous horror series is set to be adapted for television, approximately 45 years following its initial release. Previously, there was a somewhat unrelated yet interconnected show titled “Friday the 13th: The Series,” which aired from 1987 to 1990.
Who are joining the Crystal Lake cast?
Devin Kessler (known for Godfather of Harlem), Cameron Scoggins (famous for Shades of Blue and Nashville), and newcomer Gwendolyn Sundstrom have been chosen to portray Briana Brooks, Dorf, and Grace in the upcoming project. Originally, Ron Millkie played the role of officer Dorf in the 1980 film. They will be joining previously announced main actors Linda Cardellini (known for Scooby-Doo movies and Dead to Me) and William Catlett (Abigail), with Catlett set to take on the character of Levon Brooks.
In the forthcoming prequel series, Cardellini is set to portray Pamela Voorhees, a renowned figure and Jason Voorhees’s determined mother. This role first appeared in the initial film of the franchise as the first murderer at the camp, seeking vengeance for the death of her son, who she believed had drowned. Originally, Betsy Palmer played this character in the 1980 motion picture.
The series known as “Crystal Lake” is the brainchild of showrunner Brad Caleb Kane, who has previously worked on projects like “It: Welcome to Derry,” “Tokyo Vice,” and “Warrior.” Details regarding its storyline are currently being withheld. The production team comprises executive producers such as Kane himself, A24, Marc Toberoff, Victor Miller, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, Stuart Manashil, Tyson Bidner, and Michael Lennox. Directors for the series include Michael Lennox (episodes 101-103), Celine Held & Logan George (episodes 104-106), and Quyen Tran (episodes 107-108).
