As a long-time gaming enthusiast who has traversed countless virtual worlds and assumed the roles of numerous characters, I can only imagine the thrill that playing Elsa in a live-action Frozen musical would bring to Anya Taylor-Joy. Her passion for the challenge of completing impossible tasks and her love for singing, dancing, and acting make her an ideal candidate for this coveted role.
The Frozen series, renowned as one of the most iconic animated film franchises of its era, has left an indelible mark on audiences and critics alike, with its movies earning billions at global box offices. Currently, Frozen and Frozen 2 stand fourth and second among the highest-grossing animated films ever made. This popularity has sparked interest in a live-action remake, although no official confirmation has been given yet. In a recent interview, Anya Taylor-Joy expressed her enthusiasm for playing Elsa should a live-action Frozen project ever be approved.
Anya Taylor-Joy wants to play Elsa in Disney’s live-action Frozen musical
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but imagine how thrilling it would be for me to step into the role of the Snow Queen in reality, just as The Queen’s Gambit star so eloquently expressed.
As a gamer, if I were to step into the shoes of any Disney character for musical or related projects, Elsa from Frozen would be my top pick, no questions asked! You see, I recently shared this choice with Vogue Hong Kong during an interview, explaining that her captivating personality and magical powers are simply irresistible. After all, who wouldn’t want to let it go with such style and grace?
Taylor-Joy expressed her desire to perform in a musical, saying, “I’m finding myself a bit overworked with my current job. Yet, the thrill of tackling seemingly impossible tasks fuels me immensely. It’s that very challenge that I yearn for. The prospect of singing, dancing, and acting all at once is truly captivating to me.”
In addition to discussing her own experience, the Miami-born artist also expressed thoughts about how acquiring the role of Elsa might affect her siblings’ children. Anya Taylor-Joy shared that she hopes her nieces and nephews would one day be able to say that their aunt played Elsa in a movie.
Taylor-Joy enthusiastically stated, “I believe ‘Frozen’ will turn out amazing! It’s a blast to pretend you can shoot ice cubes, and it could make you the star at every child’s birthday party!” She continued excitedly, “Imagine how cool it would be if my nieces and nephews could say, ‘My aunt is Elsa.’ That would be fantastic!” she added.
Currently, there’s no word from Disney about a live-action adaptation of Frozen. Instead, they are focusing their efforts on more animated sequels within the franchise. As of now, Frozen 3 is scheduled for a theater release in 2027.
