Software’s upcoming schedule now includes two sequential multiplayer game releases, Elden Ring Nightreign and Duskbloods, which is a pleasant surprise exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2. Although Duskbloods seems to evoke the style of Bloodborne, it’s not a direct follow-up, according to studio director Hidetaka Miyazaki. He also made it clear that FromSoftware will continue to create immersive single-player games outside of these multiplayer releases like Duskbloods and Nightreign.
Miyazaki made this statement on Nintendo’s Creator’s Voice Blog, during a three-part interview with the leader of FromSoftware. Here, he expressed his enthusiasm for Duskblood’s PvPvE features, but clarified that it won’t replace FromSoftware’s focus on single-player adventures and action games.
It’s reassuring to hear that FromSoftware plans to continue developing games similar to their popular titles such as Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Armored Core, despite focusing on new projects like Nightreign and Duskbloods, which are both multiplayer-heavy. Even with the excitement around Duskbloods for Switch 2 and the promising development of Nightreign, it’s comforting to know that FromSoftware isn’t abandoning their roots.
