Arvind Swami, riding high from the success of his latest movie, Meiyazhagan with Karthi, has recently disclosed a heart-wrenching event that transpired in his life. This acclaimed actor revealed the hardships he faced following a severe spinal injury, which kept him confined to bed for several years.

In an interview with Gulf News, Arvind Swami discussed the unexpected turn of events regarding the recent project he’s working on. Previously, he had been absent from filmmaking for 13 years without any intention of returning. However, a unique offer from Mani Ratnam sparked his interest in resuming his acting career. He expressed that when one’s abilities are questioned, it becomes an enticing challenge—not in a derogatory way, but rather as a personal test of determination. Looking back on the years since his appearance in Alaipayuthey and his role in Kadal, he disclosed that significant events had transpired, including a severe spinal injury that left him bedridden for multiple years. This injury also resulted in partial paralysis of his leg.

He mentioned that from the moment he rose from his bed until reaching the shower, he would experience intense, agonizing pain, forcing him to sit down multiple times. It makes one truly appreciate how easily we overlook many aspects of daily life, such as leaping out of bed. However, when you don’t have complete command over your body, it offers a completely different viewpoint altogether.

Additionally, Arvind Swamy, the Ottu actor, shared some insights about the hurdles he encountered during this tough period. According to India Today, he revealed that his back injury was unbearably painful and he had to sit multiple times even when he merely stepped out of bed to take a shower.

The actor pointed out that we often overlook numerous aspects in our lives, such as getting out of bed effortlessly. However, when one doesn’t have full control over their limbs, it provides an entirely new perspective on life.

Currently on the professional side, Arvind Swamy has been featured in Meiyazhagan, sharing screen space with Karthi. This movie premiered on September 27, 2024, coinciding with Jr NTR’s Devara: Part 1. Guided by director Prem Kumar C, this family drama centers around two cousins who transform into each other’s sworn enemies. Moreover, the actor also took on a supporting role in Anubhav Sinha’s Netflix series titled IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack.
