Taylor Kitsch says he’s been asked to be part of the new Friday Night Lights Peacock reboot.
2024 saw the news break that Friday Night Lights, the critically-acclaimed TV show starring Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton which debuted in 2006 and ran for five seasons, was being revived by Universal Television. In the initial run, Taylor Kitsch portrayed Tim Riggins, a troubled football player battling alcoholism.
During an interview with Jessica Shaw on SiriusXM’s The Spotlight, via TV Line, Kitsch hinted that there have been discussions about his involvement in the upcoming Friday Night Lights reboot. However, he didn’t share much more information, simply stating, “I’ll stop there.

Despite his previous statement, he expressed a possible willingness to re-enter the Friday Night Lights universe briefly.
He mentioned that he might participate and contribute to a project, possibly for a single episode. However, he’s not keen on taking on the entire endeavor.
Additionally, Kitsch mentioned his willingness to portray characters beyond Riggins in the upcoming series. This could include roles like “the coach of an opposing team” or similar positions.

Jason Katims, the former showrunner of Friday Night Lights’ original series, is coming back for the upcoming remake. Additionally, Peter Berg and Brian Grazer are set to return, with Kristen Zolner taking on the role of executive producer at Imagine Entertainment.
No casting information has been announced for the new series at this time.
A premiere date for the new Friday Night Lights series has not yet been announced by Peacock.
