Freakier Friday Release Date Set, First Look Photo Released

As a long-time fan of the original Freaky Friday, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the release of Freakier Friday! Growing up with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan’s hilarious body swap antics was like a rite of passage for me. Now, getting to see them return after all these years is simply magical.

I can hardly contain my excitement! Just heard that Disney is dropping the release date for the long-awaited sequel to the magical comedy, Freakier Friday, starring none other than Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan from 2003. Can’t wait to switch bodies again with my favorite leading ladies!

Under the direction of Nisha Ganatra (Late Night), the forthcoming sequel is set to bring back Curtis and Lohan, portraying Tess and Anna Coleman once more. The initial film chronicled the unexpected predicament of Tess and her daughter Anna, who found themselves unwittingly inhabiting each other’s bodies one day.

In the upcoming film, we find ourselves catching up several years later, focusing on grown-up Anna navigating a fresh, turbulent instance of body-swapping, this time involving her 14-year-old daughter, Harper.

When is the Freakier Friday release date?

Disney has revealed that the movie titled “Freakier Friday” (originally known as “Freaky Friday 2”) is set to hit theaters on August 8, 2025.

In its initial release, the movie, helmed by director Mark Waters, garnered favorable critic opinions and proved to be a hit at the box office. Despite persistent online chatter about a sequel for Freaky Friday, it wasn’t until this year that its production was officially announced.

In the synopsis of “Freakier Friday,” we find that Anna has become a mother to a child of her own while also preparing to take on a stepdaughter. As they both experience the complexities that arise when two families unite, an unexpected event occurs: Tess and Anna learn that the phenomenon of ‘lightning striking twice’ might be possible.
