Freakier Friday: Chad Michael Murray Teases ‘Even Better Chemistry’ in Sequel

As a gamer with a soft spot for nostalgia and a deep appreciation for the evolution of actors, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement about the upcoming sequel, “Freakier Friday.” Chad Michael Murray, who played the charming Jake in the original 2003 remake, has expressed his gratitude at the opportunity to reprise his role and step back into the world he left two decades ago.

In 2003, Chad Michael Murray played a key role in Disney’s adaptation of Freaky Friday. He is set to return for the sequel titled, More Freaky Friday. Chad believes that the ensemble will have even stronger dynamics in this second installment.

What did Chad Michael Murray say about Freakier Friday?

In a recent conversation with ComingSoon, Murray expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to rejoin the film project. He added that when they all returned to set, it seemed as if hardly any time had elapsed.

Murray expressed his delight, stating, “Things are great! I can’t help but feel incredibly fortunate. You see, 22 years ago, I was lucky enough to work with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, and now here we are on set again. It’s strange because it seems like no time has passed, yet at the same time, there have been entire lifetimes worth of experiences between then and now.

Murray emphasized that Jamie Lee Curtis emerged as an exceptional team leader during filming, and it seemed perfectly timely that he was coming back to the production.

“So, I’ll tell you that the new additions to the cast are incredible. Jamie was just such a champion leader in every way, from preparation to making everybody comfortable and ready to go and to bringing and elevating the script on a daily basis,” Murray said. “It was a great team, everyone from Kristen Burr and our director, [Nisha Ganatra] and Jamie and Lindsay, just everybody all out together just wanted to make a great movie and make sure if we’re gonna do it, we were gonna do it right. So it felt really blessed to have the opportunity to come back, live in Jake’s clothes, and decide what Jake had been doing the past 22 years with his life. Conveniently, my hair just happened to be long again. I hadn’t had it long forever, and all of a sudden I’m like, “Oh yeah, ’tis the season.”

Murray thinks chemistry will be even better in sequel

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about Murray discussing the intriguing chemistry brewing for our upcoming movie. He expressed his belief that with everyone having such extensive experience in the acting realm and the opportunity to grow over time, reuniting promises an extraordinary outcome.

Murray mentioned that he feels the experience between them has improved over time, suggesting a stronger connection now due to his early stages in his career at their first encounter. Essentially, he’s grown more musically and taken on new challenges with less stage fright than 22 years ago.

I find it thrilling when new babies arrive on set. Currently, I have three children of my own. Lindsay also has a baby now, and it feels like we’ve all moved to such different stages in our lives compared to where we were years ago. It’s an amazing experience, incredibly rewarding, and even a bit nostalgic for us. I hope everyone watching on August 8 will feel the same way.
