The well-known actor Francisco San Martin, recognized for his portrayal of Dario Hernandez in the popular daytime drama “Days of Our Lives,” sadly passed away at the age of 39.
In 2011, San Martin had a short run on Days of Our Lives, playing Hernandez. This character reappeared multiple times throughout the show and was portrayed by different actors afterward, with Jordi Vilasuso taking over the role in 2016-17.
Apart from Days of Our Lives, San Martin has also made appearances in other ventures, such as The Bold and the Beautiful, another popular soap opera, for a brief period. In 2017, he graced our screens in several episodes of the successful CW series Jane the Virgin. His most recent on-screen role was in a short film called Dot, which was released in 2022.
Born in Mallorca, Spain, San Martin spent his early years in Montana where he started acting in children’s shows. Later, he returned to Spain during his teenage years, took up acting classes, and eventually made appearances in numerous Spanish productions, honing his craft in his home country.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office confirmed his death, sharing with us that it was due to an unfortunate choice, a choice he made himself – suicide. It’s a stark reminder of the complexities and struggles we all face, even in our virtual worlds.
On Instagram (as reported by Forbes), Camila Banus, his co-star from Days of Our Lives, paid tribute to him by expressing her affection. “Pepe,” she wrote, “I can’t find the words except to say I love you and may you rest in peace, my friend. You were the only one who sang ‘happy birthday’ to me in the middle of a concert in Hollywood, something nobody else could believe. I loved you so much, so much; if only I had told you that more.
