FRAMA’s Ratio Storage Series Is Imbued With Architectural Balance

Summary

  • FRAMA has launched its new Ratio Series, a four-piece freestanding storage line designed by ilo founders Ana Magalhães Ilharco and Matilde Cortez de Lobão, emphasizing geometric precision inspired by architectural standards.

Under the Ratio Series, the Danish design company FRAMA has introduced a new product – a set of four furniture items that complement their existing range of home decor. Reflecting the Scandinavian minimalist style and love for natural materials, these designs were created in collaboration with ilo designers to strike a harmonious balance between “size, color, measurement, and weight.

According to FRAMA’s campaign, their designs boast a classic, balanced look that seamlessly blends with any surrounding space. The Ratio Chest and Console, for instance, feature closed horizontal storage compartments with drawers, leaving an uncluttered surface to showcase the Birch wood grain. Additionally, the Side Table and Trolley, both compact and open, embody the concept of careful craftsmanship in their functional accessories.

Ana Magalhães Ilharco and Matilde Cortez de Lobão from ilo designed the Ratio series, which features a geometric rhythm reminiscent of architectural structures. The designers meticulously balanced each design element, giving the latest collection a sense of familiarity that mirrors the minimalistic wooden furniture pieces from the early 20th century – a time bridging the gap between artisanal and industrial eras.

The way the studio references architectural practice mirrors its research-oriented methodology, frequently drawing inspiration from diverse fields such as classical Japanese interior design and European Modernism. This aesthetic compatibility is also seen in the style of FRAMA’s other collections, like the Symmetry series and the Rivet Series.
