As a devoted gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the PlayStation 5 adaptation of Xbox’s four-year-old open-world racer, Forza Horizon 5, has made history in 2025 by becoming the best-selling game on Sony’s console.
Based on data from video game analysis company Alinea Analytics, it’s been revealed that the racing game created by Playground Games has surpassed sales of over 3 million units on PlayStation 5 consoles since its launch in April.
Forza Horizon 5 is PS5’s biggest seller
In just two short months since its release, the analytics data shows that around 47% of Forza Horizon 5’s PC editions have been purchased, making a total of 6.5 million sales on both Steam and Xbox platforms over the past four years.
It seems challenging to monitor the sales of the game on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X because a significant portion of its reported 45.5 million players might be from Xbox Game Pass subscribers rather than traditional purchases.
Forza’s first appearance on PlayStation has been incredibly successful, surpassing the sales of Monster Hunter Wilds, a well-known PlayStation series, and even exceeding the sales of Elden Ring Nightreign, a spin-off of the popular action game from FromSoftware, which sold 1.4 million copies.
Forza Horizon 5 is one aspect of Xbox’s major cross-platform strategy to make their exclusive games available on more systems. While games like Starfield are exclusive to Xbox consoles, the revamped original Gears of War is heading to PlayStation, and it seems that the upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved Remake might also be targeting PlayStation 5. However, it’s unclear if the remake will launch simultaneously with the Xbox version on the same day.
It’s been mentioned that Microsoft aspires to introduce its initial collection of games on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo’s latest handheld device. However, it’s important to note that there are currently no confirmed release dates for the Switch 2. Even Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has decided not to be part of this system at the moment.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m pumped about the upcoming releases for my console! First off, I can’t wait to get my hands on Gears of War: Reloaded, which is dropping on PlayStation 5 in April. And let me tell you, after weeks of passionate fan feedback, Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds 2 will be joining the lineup at a more affordable price once it arrives on the system. Can’t wait!
