Fortnite quietly fixes the OG bot invasion

As a long-time Fortnite player with countless hours spent battling it out in the heat of competition, I must admit that the recent influx of bots in the OG lobbies has left me feeling rather frustrated and disappointed. The thrill of going up against real opponents, each with their unique strategies and skills, is what keeps us coming back for more.

In recent weeks, anyone who’s joined the battle in the Fortnite OG lobbies might have found themselves encountering an unusual number of seemingly inexperienced or underperforming opponents.

As a passionate fan, I recently stumbled upon some intriguing findings by AllyJax. It turns out that an overwhelming 88% of the gamers in these online arenas weren’t real people but automated bots! That leaves just 12 out of every 100 players as genuine human opponents to compete against. Quite a revelation, isn’t it?

This surprise finding sparked quite a commotion within the community, leading to queries about the reason behind the high number of bots in the lobbies, given the immense enthusiasm for original Fortnite.

Following a significant wave of criticism on various social networking platforms, Epic Games chose to address the issue of bots in their system by issuing an update.

Epic Games’ silent fix

Interestingly, this change was not officially announced.

Contrary to the usual method where Epic announces major changes with great fanfare on their social media, this particular update was made discreetly and without any special announcement.

On the very day of the update, even the typically active FortniteStatus Twitter account was conspicuously quiet and momentarily unavailable for updates.

The initial Fortnite map from 2017, considered by many players as the finest Fortnite map ever made, is once again available in Fortnite OG.

In locations reminiscent of the past, such as Dusty Depot, Tilted Towers, and Anarchy Acres, Epic Games skillfully transported players back to the game’s beginning era, garnering universal acclaim.

It seems Fortnite has made another blunder: You can no longer find a lobby with over twelve players. Now, all lobbies labeled as OG contain 88 bots instead. Could this be an error?

Even with their excitement, AllyJax found an unexpectedly high number of automated accounts (bots) in the gaming rooms, which raises more questions about their abundance. This is particularly puzzling given the positive reception to the original map.

It remains unclear whether this influx of bots was an error or a deliberate decision by Epic Games.

Yeah ok, player cap is 12, it’s impossible to get less than 88 fucking bots

Improvements, but questions remain

To address the concerns raised by the community, Epic Games promptly rolled out a new update aimed at resolving the problem.

According to a recent test conducted by AllyJax, the typical number of human players in these lobby areas has risen substantially to approximately 53, signifying a notable enhancement.

Epic has recently made a change – the actual number of players is even lower than before, but the limit of 12 players has been removed now.

Nonetheless, the query persists: What could be the reasons for a scarcity of genuine players in these gaming rooms, considering the tremendous popularity of the original Fortnite?

Now, at minimum, players will not face bots that consistently miss shots or randomly destroy walls without purpose.
