As a longtime WWE fan and someone who has followed the careers of these legendary wrestlers closely, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming SummerSlam event! With former champions like Roman Reigns, The Rock, and CM Punk rumored to make appearances, it’s going to be an unforgettable night.
As a passionate fan, I’m excited to share that some legendary former WWE Champions, including Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and The Rock, are rumored to make a comeback for the highly-anticipated SummerSlam event. Mark your calendars for August 3, 2024, as WWE SummerSlam is set to unfold at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. Let’s hope these iconic wrestlers bring their A-game and deliver unforgettable moments at this premium live experience!
WWE has announced several matches: Gunther versus Damian Priest for the World Championship, and Bayley facing Nia Jax, the Queen of the Ring Tournament winner, for the Women’s Championship. Furthermore, Liv Morgan will defend her Women’s World Title against Rhea Ripley. Multiple other matches are also being planned.
In the world of professional wrestling’s WWE, there’s been a lot of chatter about Cody Rhodes potentially defending his Undisputed title against Solo Sikoa. However, an official confirmation from the WWE authorities is still pending. The match card for the upcoming show has already been set, but this highly-anticipated bout hasn’t been officially announced yet. Meanwhile, rumors of former champions Roman Reigns, The Rock, and CM Punk making comebacks are fueling excitement for the event in the coming weeks.
At WrestleMania 40, both Roman Reigns and The Rock took part in the event. However, due to his filming commitments for “The Smashing Machine,” which co-stars Emily Blunt, The Rock’s involvement may not be limited to wrestling. As for Roman Reigns, there are indications that he will make an appearance at the show, although it’s uncertain if this will involve a wrestling match. Meanwhile, updates regarding CM Punk’s participation in WWE SummerSlam following his injury earlier in the year have been shared in recent reports.
It looks like we’re getting this at Summerslam.

CM Punk WWE SummerSlam return update: ‘Probable’ but not ‘100%’ confirmed
As a gamer, I’d put it like this: I, CM Punk, suffered a triceps injury at the Royal Rumble and have been sidelined ever since. But even with this setback, I’ve remained an active presence on WWE programming. My rivalry with Drew McIntyre has only grown stronger, and fans can’t get enough of our intense interactions. With SummerSlam right around the corner, just two weeks away, everyone’s asking if I’ll make a surprise in-ring comeback. Stay tuned!
According to wrestling reporter Dave Meltzer’s latest update on Wrestling Observer, there’s a good chance that CM Punk will be well enough to perform at SummerSlam. Yet, it’s not yet certain if he will obtain the necessary medical approval for the event.
“A week ago, I was informed that CM Punk’s participation in SummerSlam was likely, but this wasn’t definitive as it only represented about 60-80% certainty. So there is still a chance that his status might change.”

In the meantime, CM Punk is set to make an appearance on WWE Raw coming up. We’ll have to wait and see if he shares his decision regarding competing at SummerSlam.
