Former Kannada actress Amulya's brother and director Deepak Aras passes away at 42 after kidney failure

As a die-hard fan of Deepak Aras and his extraordinary work in Kannada cinema, this news has left me utterly devastated. I’ve followed his journey from his early days as a filmmaker to his latest project, Sugar Factory, with bated breath. Each of his films was not just a cinematic experience but a testament to his immense talent and passion for storytelling.

Oh my goodness, I simply can’t believe it! As a diehard fan, I’ve always admired the incredible talent of Deepak Aras, the esteemed Kannada film director and Amulya’s beloved brother. It’s heart-wrenching to learn that he left us at the tender age of 42 on this fateful Thursday (October 17).

The Cinema Express report also indicates that Deepak Aras is mourned by his spouse, two kids, and a big extended family. His deceased body was transported to his residence in Vyalikaval, and it has been announced that his funeral ceremonies will be held in his hometown, Nagamangala, today (October 18).

I, as a devoted follower of Sandalwood cinema, am deeply saddened and stunned by the sudden demise of Deepak Aras. The news has brought an eerie silence over our industry, as artists from our film fraternity gathered at the site where his final rites will take place, expressing their sincere sympathies. Amulya, visibly emotional, was seen standing by her late brother’s side, evidently overwhelmed by this unexpected grief.

For those unfamiliar, Deepak Aras is well-known for his significant contributions to the Kannada film industry. One of his most recognized works is the 2011 romantic drama “Manasology.” In this film, Amulya, his sister, plays the lead role as a violin teacher named Sihi who develops a romantic relationship with Manas through phone conversations. The plot takes an unexpected turn when Sihi’s father learns about Manas’ demise and attempts to keep this information hidden from her.

To add on, Deepak Aras was at the helm for Sugar Factory, a romantic comedy-drama that hit the screens in 2023. This production features Darling Krishna, Sonal Monteiro, Ruhani Shetty, Adhvithi Shetty, and Rangayana Raghu in pivotal roles. The narrative of Sugar Factory centers around the vibrant pub culture in Goa and unfolds the tale of Arya. It marked Deepak’s final film, as per sources; he had been contemplating a fresh project, but unforeseen circumstances seem to have taken over instead.
