As a seasoned gamer with a deep appreciation for intricate narratives and immersive worlds, I can’t help but feel a surge of anticipation upon hearing about Summer Eternal. Having been deeply moved by the rich tapestry of characters and stories woven in Disco Elysium, the prospect of a spiritual successor, crafted by some of the very same minds that breathed life into those digital denizens, is nothing short of exhilarating.
A group consisting of significant contributors from the creation and scripting of Disco Elysium, named Summer Eternal, have declared themselves an “artist collective”. Notably, this is the first such group to emerge since legal issues disbanded the original studio ZA/UM. What sets them apart is that they include writers and artists who worked on the initial project. Furthermore, their ambition is to initiate a crowdfunded RPG, which will serve as a spiritual sequel to Disco Elysium in essence.
This week, Summer Eternal unveiled its freshly launched website, outlining its forthcoming projects. The collective includes several creators from the original Disco Elysium.

The mission declaration of Summer Eternal explicitly highlights the inefficient management and oversights within the corporate and executive sectors, which led Studio ZA/UM into numerous legal disputes. In essence, Summer Eternal was established with the intention of launching a fresh, top-tier creative endeavor following these challenges.
