Former Call of Duty Zombies lead Jason Blundell has announced a new studio, and it’s more than just an indie venture. The veteran game designer’s studio is collaborating with PlayStation and Sony on new IP under the PlayStation Studios publishing label. The studio is called Dark Outlaw Games, and it’s staffing up for its first project now.
In a recent interview on The Jeff Gerstmann Show, Blundell unveiled his freshly established Dark Outlaw Games studio. During this interview, he provided some insights about the studio and its operations.
Jason Blundell’s career is long and storied in the industry, but he is perhaps best known for his work at Treyarch, where he was the director of Call of Duty Zombies from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 up until his exit in 2020.
In 2021, he established Deviation Games as a co-founder, partnering with PlayStation. Although the team boasted over 100 employees, they never launched their first project and ultimately shut down in 2024.
Under the PlayStation brand, Blundell has officially launched his new studio, Dark Outlaw Games. We’re eagerly waiting to discover the outcomes of this exciting new project. Keep an eye on the developments within PlayStation Studios as we anticipate the release of Dark Outlaw’s inaugural game.
