As a long-time fan who has witnessed the highs and lows of Tamil cinema, I must say this recent turn of events between Nayanthara and Dhanush is quite unexpected. It’s not every day we see such a public spat between two stars, especially those who have shared the screen and created memorable characters together.
Recently, Nayanthara caused a stir online when she publicly addressed Tamil star Dhanush over allegations of copyright infringement against her. Now, a number of her past co-stars, such as Shruti Haasan, Nazriya Nazim, among others, have expressed their backing for the actress.
On Nayanthara’s Instagram post, several actresses who previously worked with Dhanush have shown their backing by liking the post, including Aishwarya Lekshmi and Anupama Parameswaran. Moreover, Parvathy Thiruvothu went a step further by reposting the post on her own Instagram story, expressing her support for the actress.

For those not familiar, actress Nayanthara has recently spoken out against actor Dhanush K Raja for alleging copyright infringement regarding the content she’s using in her upcoming Netflix documentary, titled “Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale”. In an open letter, she explained that the creators have been attempting to obtain permission (No Objection Certificate) to use content from her film, “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan”.
The movie financed by Dhanush signified the initial team-up of Nayanthara and her husband Vignesh Shivan. The intended visuals from this film were meant for a documentary chronicling Nayanthara’s personal life. Despite seeking approval, the footage wasn’t granted to them over a period of two years.
Additionally, the creators opted to incorporate behind-the-scenes footage from the movie’s production, which was taken on personal devices like phones. Yet, Dhanush’s legal team has initiated a lawsuit against the actress, alleging copyright violation and seeking monetary compensation amounting to 100 crores (Rs 10 crores).
It is reported that these incidents sparked an open letter from the actress, which has been gaining industry-wide backing. Notably, the film “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan,” helmed by Vignesh Shivan, starred Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara in key roles.
2015 saw the release of a film blending romance and comedy, centered around a police officer’s son. In an attempt to assert himself as a local gangster, he engages in criminal activities. Amidst these events, he encounters Kadhambari, a woman seeking her father and developing feelings for her. The narrative then unfolds around their relationship and whether she will eventually find her father.
