The sci-fi adventure film previously known as “Distant,” starring Anthony Ramos and Naomi Scott, has undergone a title change following numerous release postponements over the past three years. Finally, on July 3, this much-anticipated movie became accessible for streaming on Hulu, about a year after its initial premiere in Vietnam.

A space prospector accidentally lands on a hostile alien world, finding himself stranded amidst treacherous landscapes as his air supply dwindles and mysterious beasts pursue him. His goal is to reconnect with the last surviving colleague.

As a gamer, I’ve been eagerly waiting for the sci-fi adventure movie that was previously known as “Distant” but is now officially titled “Long Distance.” To my surprise, there were no promotions or announcements from Universal Pictures regarding its release on Hulu. Originally planned for a theater debut, this film has experienced numerous delays since 2022. Eventually, it was taken off the release schedule by Universal Pictures in January 2024.

The film “Long Distance” was helmed by directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck, who also served as executive producers. The script was penned by Spenser Cohen. Production of the movie concluded in 2020 amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to Ramos and Scott, the star-studded cast consisted of Kristofer Hivju, Zachary Quinto, Izzy Jones, Leon Nurse-Joseph, Milan Walls-Smith, among others.

The film was made under the supervision of Fred Berger, Anna Halberg, and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, while Matthew Hirsch and Jonathan Rothbart took on executive producer roles. The creative team also featured cinematographer Jeff Cutter, editor Gregory Plotkin, and musician Steven Price.
