A fresh sneak peek at the Netflix teen drama series, based on Judy Blume‘s classic, entitled “Forever,” has been unveiled as a preview.
Drawing inspiration from Blume’s groundbreaking 1975 novel about two teenagers experiencing their first sexual encounters, Forever presents a fresh perspective in its adaptation. This heartfelt tale unfolds as an expansive love story, following two adolescents navigating romance and self-discovery while grappling with the embarrassment of being each other’s first times. The narrative is set against the backdrop of Los Angeles in 2018, with Lovie Simone and Michael Cooper Jr. taking on the main roles.

What happens in the Forever teaser trailer?
The opening scene shows Keisha (formerly known as Simone) and Justin (previously Cooper) meeting again. At first, Justin, who is depicted as a bit of a bookworm, doesn’t recognize Simone. However, the way the teaser is edited gives the impression that they used to be childhood companions. Justin then inquires if Simone still competes in track and field events. Indeed, she does, and she’s quite proficient. On the other hand, Justin excels at basketball.
The trailer proceeds to display Justin pursuing Simone. He sends her bouquets of flowers, and they are depicted walking hand in hand. However, Keisha expresses reservations about entering a relationship, despite the two growing closer and developing feelings for each other. In the end, the Forever teaser emphasizes Justin’s efforts to salvage his relationship with Simone, as it appears she has found affection elsewhere.
A release date was not revealed, though it’s coming soon on Netflix.
Additionally, actors such as Karen Pittman, Wood Harris, Xosha Roquemore, Marvis Winans III, Niles Fitch, Barry Shabaka Henley, Ali Gallo, Adriyan Rae, Paigion Walker, Xavier Mills, and E’myri Crutchfield are part of the production as well.
The TV series “Forever” was developed by Mara Brock Akil, who is famous for creating the sitcom “Girlfriends,” which starred Tracee Ellis Ross and ran for eight seasons from 2000 to 2008. In “Forever,” Akil takes on both showrunning duties and executive production roles, collaborating with Blume, Susie Fitzgerald, Erika Harrison, Sara White, Regina King, Reina King, Shana C. Waterman, and Anthony Hemingway.
A previous adaptation of Blume’s novel Forever… first premiered in 1978.
