Football Manager 2024 player merges game with AI to manage teams with just their voice

In the absence of Football Manager 2025, fans continue to immerse themselves in Football Manager 2024, eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series. One enthusiast is integrating artificial intelligence with the renowned management game, aiming to manage their team solely through voice commands.

Football Manager 2024 merged with AI

Game developer Murat Kacmaz announced online that Football Manager 2025 will integrate Whisper and OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology, enabling voice commands within the game instead of relying on a mouse. This means gamers can now verbally instruct the game to change players as if they were barking orders on a football field.

In a brief demonstration on LinkedIn, Kacmaz highlighted the voice command functionality. This fundamental system is designed to comprehend “natural speech” and instantly adjust lineups by enabling users to substitute or benching players with straightforward commands.

During the demonstration, Kacmaz opted for a compact scenario involving the replacement of an injured goalkeeper from FC Barcelona’s team.

In simpler terms, “Ter Stegen got hurt, so he had to leave the game,” was called out by one player. Not long after, the game itself took out the injured goalkeeper and put in Ignacio “Iñaki” Peña Sotorres as his replacement, with a straightforward command.

The software program exchanges its players by converting spoken words into written text using Whisper, and then employing the ChatGPT artificial intelligence engine to process these instructions. By integrating both systems, the game becomes proficient at understanding commands and carrying them out swiftly.

“We can add players, removing them, swapping them,” the player explains.

Absolutely, performing these actions is noticeably quicker with a mouse, keyboard, or even a controller. Yet, it’s an effective accessibility feature for those who wish to engage with Football Manager despite physical limitations. It may not be the smoothest experience, but it’s functional, and it’s more beneficial for AI to focus on enhancing gameplay rather than producing irrelevant images or disseminating biased, inaccurate information.
