Flume x JPEGMAFIA Connect on “Track 1”

As a gamer, I’ve been hooked lately by the fusion of hip-hop and electronic tunes! Danny Brown just killed it at A.G. Cook’s Coachella set, while Kid Cudi and Dom Dolla surprised us with their debut collaboration “Forever.” And who would have thought that Aminé would sample UK garage/electronic project The Streets on his latest single? Keeping the groove going, Flume and JPEGMAFIA teamed up again for an unanticipated second collab track titled “Track 1” – complete with a seven-minute animated video to match!

In a lively depiction, James Blagden’s “Track 1” video showcases the very studio session that ignited the creation of “Track 1”, marking a new musical milestone for artist Flume who released it after a hiatus in 2023.

On one of their initial attempts, the lifelong companions and partners (who have worked together before on songs like Flume’s “How to Build a Relationship” and JPEG’s “New Black History”) recorded “Track 1,” according to a recent announcement.

In simpler terms, Flume says to Peggy, “I’m going to play around with various sounds. Let me know if you enjoy it.” As each sound is played, it has a unique impact on the rapper, causing him to stretch out, turn into a fly or a giant clown. The final beat they decide on transports them both on a vibrant journey through different periods and dimensions.

As a gamer, I’m pumping up my headphones, diving into the world of Spotify and Apple Music to crank up “Track 1”. And hey, don’t forget to catch the complete music video spectacle in the gallery right above!
