The first plot details for Toy Story 5 have been shared by Tim Allen.
Allen has lent his voice to the character of Buzz Lightyear across all four films within Pixar’s Toy Story series. As for the future, Toy Story 5 is being developed and, as revealed in April 2024, the film is scheduled for release in June 2026.
So far, specifics about the storyline have been kept secret. However, Allen subtly suggested that the character of Jessie, who is voiced by Joan Cusack, may take on a significant part in Toy Story 5.
What did Tim Allen say about Toy Story 5?
On Good Morning America, I shared my excitement about Toy Story 5, revealing that I’ve already made a start on the script and am currently working on the third act. The creativity and innovation Pixar has shown so far is simply astounding. Though they didn’t expressly forbid me from speaking about it, I can’t help but share some tantalizing details. There’s a lot of intrigue surrounding Buzz Lightyear in this new installment, and Woody’s pal Jessie finds herself in quite the predicament that requires assistance. It’s an incredibly cool development!
Apart from discussing with Collider regarding the upcoming fifth Toy Story movie, Allen expressed his thoughts as follows: “The plot is incredibly smart. Frankly, I don’t think they are driven by financial gains for making this film. Of course, they want it to be successful, but that’s not the main reason behind it. If they hadn’t come up with an exceptional script, they wouldn’t have made it and they wouldn’t have invited me and Tom [Hanks]. The story is quite clever. It was challenging to get on board, but once I got into Buzz after about two hours, I felt truly blessed to be Buzz Lightyear. Frankly speaking, I’m excited. We are approximately a year away from its release. I’ve reached the third act so far and will work on it again. After that, we’ll polish it up and then I’ll record it about five more times. Honestly, the story is fantastic.
