First Monster Hunter Wilds updates fix a progress-blocking bug, but not the dodgy PC performance

Monster Hunter Wilds has garnered an impressive number of players, surpassing a million concurrent users on Steam during the weekend, even amidst mixed feedback from gamers, notably criticizing its technical aspects.

From now, we’ll be working on fixing the behemoth to resolve some issues with specific quests as reported by players. This process is like a reverse battle, where instead of destroying parts, we’re mending them, adding features such as horns or tails, and restoring its functionality so it can roam freely across the landscape once more.

a tutorial for weapon upgrading in the Smithy that keeps reappearing and blocks certain menu options, and an issue where the ‘Grill a Meal’ and ‘Ingredient Center’ features cannot be unlocked, despite players meeting the required progress.

A new hotfix update for issues in the Ingredient Center and Grill a Meal is about to be rolled out soon, addressing another critical bug as well. This bug prevents an important NPC from showing up during the mission “A World Turned Upside Down”, causing progress blockage. The release date for this update is today, March 4th, at 12am Pacific Standard Time (PST) and 8am Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Capcom acknowledges additional instances where players are unable to complete the main mission “Omens” because they’ve already hit the Hunter Rank limit. However, it seems to be a misunderstanding within the game: even if you’ve reached the cap, you can still finish this quest by earning HR points from optional quests or side missions. Capcom expresses regret that the mission description was not entirely clear in this case.

As a gamer, I’m guessing plenty of you are all about optimizing frame rates. In our Monster Hunter Wilds PC Settings and Performance Guide, I found the game to be quite the challenge for graphics cards, earning the nickname “graphics card torture device.” It seems to lean heavily on frame generation as a crutch. To put it simply, Wilds is unusually demanding, offering brief moments of smoothness in tight spaces like caves or tents, only to drop performance drastically when you venture out into the vast open world.

Capcom’s troubleshooting guide for launch day seems to be lacking, suggesting that players update their graphics drivers and run the game in administrator mode. It might also be worth trying to restart your computer or perhaps even giving it a quick shake (like throwing a towel over it). On the other hand, Capcom continues to draw criticism with their DLC offerings.
