On December 21, 1988, a devastating bomb blast occurred within flight Pan Am 103 mid-air above Lockerbie. This flight was on its journey from Heathrow to JFK. The explosion tragically claimed the lives of 270 individuals, among whom were 190 Americans and 43 British nationals.
