Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth hit the highest concurrent PC playercount of the single-player series

Ever since Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth dropped on Steam a few days ago, I’ve been hooked! It’s been breaking records as it currently holds the highest number of simultaneous players for any single-player Final Fantasy game on Steam. Only Final Fantasy 14 outranks it in terms of concurrent player count across the entire series. This game is certainly making a strong debut!

On SteamDB, it was observed that the maximum number of players for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth simultaneously was exceptionally high on January 26 around 7:50 p.m. PT, reaching a staggering 40,564 players. This is the highest player count ever recorded for any single-player Final Fantasy game to date. Previously, Final Fantasy 7 Remake had only managed a peak of 13,803 players, while the most recent Final Fantasy 16 reached approximately 27,508. The only title in the series that surpasses these numbers is Final Fantasy 14, an MMO, which has peaked at a remarkable 95,150 players.

On January 23, 2025, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth made its debut on PC and has been verified for Steam Deck. Originally exclusive to PlayStation, it’s now available on additional platforms, with an Xbox release date still pending. With the excitement building, players are eagerly anticipating joining Cloud and his companions in their pursuit of Sephiroth and their ongoing battle against the Shinra Corporation’s schemes.

Now that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has been released on PC, gamers can’t contain their excitement and are diving right in. Keep an eye out for more news as we continue to follow the latest developments in the Final Fantasy series, right here on Shacknews.
