Figment Show Teased by Bob Iger, Seth Rogen Movie Remains Uncertain

Disney CEO Bob Iger is hinting that some sort of Figment show might be in the works.

Figment is a Disney character who stars in the “Journey Into Imagination with Figment” ride at Walt Disney World Resort’s Epcot. This small, vibrant purple dragon was brought to life by Tony Baxter, Steve Kirk, and other creators back in 1983.

What did Bob Iger say about a potential Figment show?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Iger was questioned about potential plans for utilizing Figment in a medium beyond the theme parks.

Iger replied, “This marks my 24th year, 18th as CEO, and it seems the question regarding Figment has been posed approximately 15 times. It’s clear that he resonates with our shareholders, given the frequent queries about him. At Epcot, you can interact with him and embark on an adventure of imagination. I must say, his popularity is evident – so much so that I’ve decided to ask our creative teams to explore the possibility of developing a series or short videos featuring Figment. It appears he’s more beloved than simply being a character in our parks and resorts.

By September 2022, Deadline revealed that Seth Rogen‘s production company, Point Grey, was developing a Disney film featuring Figment. Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit were named as the writers. Since then, updates on the project have been scarce, leaving its current developmental stage uncertain.

Figment, a character, has popped up briefly in both the 2015 movie Inside Out and the 2019 film Toy Story 4. Additionally, he is showcased prominently in various merchandise you can buy at Epcot.

Moreover, a comic book series called Disney Kingdoms: Figment debuted in 2014, consisting of five parts. A follow-up to this series was released in 2015.
