Fear the Walking Dead actress Jenna Elfman joins cast of Tim Allen’s Shifting Gears

As a seasoned gamer of both the small and big screen, I must say that the news about Jeanna Elfman’s new role in “Shifting Gears” has me more excited than a level 90 character getting a rare loot drop! The fact that she is reuniting with her “Fear the Walking Dead” co-star Daryl Mitchell only adds to my anticipation.

Enthusiasts of “Fear the Walking Dead” should be thrilled to hear that actress Jeanna Elfman, known for her role as June Dorie, has landed a new part. She’ll share the screen with fellow “Fear TWD” actor Daryl Mitchell (Wendell) in the upcoming comedy titled “Shifting Gears.

This multi-camera comedy features Tim Allen and Kat Dennings in its starring roles, and it was developed by Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully, who are renowned for their work on The Simpsons. Michelle Nader takes on the role of showrunner, while John Pasquin, famously known for his work on “The Santa Clause,” directs the pilot episode.

Elfman shared her excitement about starring in a comedy series once again via Instagram.

Alongside Allen and Dennings, actress Elfman (renowned for her part in the 1997 sitcom Darma & Greg) is brought into the mix. The extended cast features Mitchell, Seann Williams Scott, Maxwell Simkins, Barrett Margolis, and a guest appearance by Brenda Song.

The story centers around Matt, a widower who runs Parker Customs, a vintage car restoration business. His peaceful life is disrupted when his long-lost daughter (Dennings) and her kids decide to live with him. As reported by Deadline, Elfman takes on the role of Eve Drake, a lively dance studio owner situated opposite Parker Customs.

The debut of ‘Shift into Drive’ is set for January 8th, 8 PM ET on ABC, with episodes also available for streaming on Hulu starting the next day.

Jenna Elfman – upcoming roles

Elfman bade farewell to June Dorie at the end of Fear the Walking Dead in 2023. Following this, she is set to appear in season 3 of AMC’s original series titled Dark Winds, which debuts on March 9, 2025. In this show, she will portray a character named BI Special Agent Sylvia Washington.

This series is set in the 1970s and features Zhan McClarnon and Kiowa Gordon as the principal characters, who portray Navajo police officers Leaphorn and Chee.

In a more recent role, Elfman appeared in season 2 of the ABC police drama Will Trent, which is adapted from Karin Slaughter’s novels. The second season debuted in February 2024, and Elfman made her appearance in the fifth episode titled “Capt. Duke Wagner’s Daughter.” In this role, she portrayed Edie Reynolds, a new director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. She was characterized as a strong, assertive, no-nonsense leader who follows the rules but isn’t lacking empathy. The series can be streamed on Hulu.

Apart from his notable work in “Edward Scissorhands,” Elfman is equally recognized for his performances in shows like “Growing Up Fisher,” “1600 Penn,” “Damages,” “Accidentally on Purpose,” and many more.
