As a long-time fan of FBI: International, I must say that this season 4 is shaping up to be a rollercoaster ride! The cast changes have been quite significant, but it seems like the creators are keeping things fresh and exciting.
In the third season of FBI: International, there was a significant change in the main cast. Initially, Heida Reed departed at the start, with Jamie Kellett’s character moving to a new position in Washington, D.C. Christina Tate’s character, Amanda Wolfe, then took over as her replacement
Following his arrival with the team during season 2, Damien Powell (portrayed by Greg Hovanessian), later chose to return to special operations. In the final episode of the season, the team’s leader, Scott Forrester, went missing without leave, a move prompted by Luke Kleintank’s departure from the series after three seasons due to personal commitments, which necessitated a dramatic storyline for his character
In the final episode of season 3, Colin Donnell made an appearance as Brian Lange, a supporting agent. Unlike what seemed like a potential replacement for Forrester, Lange appeared to merely play a guest part in the series
Now, we are learning more about the new boss of the team, played by a top Chicago PD star!
Jesse Lee Soffer is joining FBI: International as the new boss
It’s been revealed that Jesse Lee Soffer, best known for portraying Jay Halstead on Chicago PD, is set to join the series in a new role as Wesley “Wes” Mitchell, a supervisory agent. For the first time, T Line has given us a glimpse of Soffer in his new character and some insights into his persona
Wes is characterized as both captivatingly charming and somewhat roguish, a character whose exceptional intuition and unorthodox methods propel him relentlessly towards his pursuit of justice. According to executive producer Matt Olmstead, however, you won’t find Wes in the main cast when the show resumes its run
“At the start of the season, Wes won’t be with the team because viewers will encounter him while he’s investigating a ‘tourism robbery’ gang in Los Angeles, and he’s also going through some ups and downs with his girlfriend,” Olmstead hinted about where we can expect to see Wes at the beginning
It’s possible that Mitchell’s investigation leads him to Europe where he encounters the Fly Team and is later appointed as their supervisor. This change might take some time for the team to adjust to their new manager who brings a fresh approach, but they won’t be the only ones experiencing changes
A Station 19 vet is coming to FBI: International
Apart from Soffer becoming part of the program, it’s also been reported by TVLine that Jay Hayden, a well-known figure from Station 19, will make an appearance halfway through season 4. This actor is primarily recognized for his character Travis Montgomery on the ABC series that concluded its seven-season run earlier in 2024
Hayden is set to portray Tyler Booth, a smart and captivating agent stationed in Budapest who needs help solving a case. Initially, this role seems to be a recurring one, but there’s a possibility it could evolve into a more permanent position. Furthermore, if the character resonates with audiences, there might be an opportunity for Booth to become a team member
Indeed, although some “FBI: International” enthusiasts might be taken aback by these cast adjustments, the introduction of two fresh faces could undoubtedly ignite and intensify the action in Season 4 all the more!
FBI: International Season 4 premieres Tuesday October 15 at 9/8c on CBS.
