As a long-time admirer of the Farrelly brothers’ cinematic genius, I must say that their ability to create laughter and joy in audiences around the world is truly unparalleled. Their unique comedic style, characterized by wit, absurdity, and heart, has left an indelible mark on Hollywood history.
The Farrelly brothers, known for directing many cherished movies throughout history, have hinted that they might collaborate on a movie again in the future, despite not having co-directed one in over ten years.
In an interview with ComingSoon, the duo – Bobby and Peter – were queried about the possibility of them directing a movie jointly once more, or if they preferred to continue working separately as they currently do, handling both directing and writing duties. As per Peter, while they might direct together again in the future, their current collaboration is so seamless that it feels like one cohesive effort.
What did the Farrelly brothers say about directing together again?
Peter shared, “Indeed, I believe we might collaborate again, yet independently feels simpler due to reasons such as our TV series Loudermilk, where I write and direct a few episodes, but Bobby handles the rest. As he’s directing, I’m editing them, which makes it hard for me to recall who was in charge on specific days. It’s like one fluid process. So, while I appreciate our current setup, I hope we can direct together again in the future; it promises to be enjoyable.
Bobby mentioned that currently, they achieve more tasks by working separately, yet for a suitable project, they would certainly collaborate.
“It is fun. Yeah. But we get a lot more done if we split up a little. Divide and conquer. But at the right project, we’ll come back to work together again.”
I’ve always admired the hilarious comedy duo, the Farrelly brothers, who have left an indelible mark on Hollywood with their iconic comedies. From Dumb and Dumber and Kingpin to There’s Something About Mary, Me, Myself & Irene, Shallow Hal, and beyond, their work never fails to bring laughter to my life. Their latest creations in 2024, Ricky Stanicky and Dear Santa, were no exception. Peter took the reins as writer and director for Ricky Stanicky, while Bobby steered the helm for Dear Santa, a screenplay penned by Peter.
