After a lively, packed concert in Manila by 88rising’s Future Asian Music (FAM), sponsored by Levi’s®, the energy remained electric as the event carried on in Singapore. The series is not only an homage to local rising stars but also marks the anniversary of the iconic 501® jeans, a classic denim piece that has been a significant part of pop culture since its creation in 1873.
On May 16th, the tour continued its energetic pace as it made a stop at Singapore’s Hard Rock Cafe. That evening, Fariz Jabba, a talented artist blending hip-hop with the rhythms of urban Southeast Asia, took center stage along with his longtime dance crew. The crowd was treated to popular tracks like “Ape Sia.” To warm up the audience for an extraordinary live music experience, DJs Nash.D and Prav were also present.
Before Jabba appeared on stage, the duo showcased a unique blend of retro influences and modern hits, dressed in a custom-made Levi’s® outfit crafted by Balaclava, a popular Singaporean brand known as Youths in Balaclava. The design embodies the idea of destruction and renewal, with visible scars celebrated rather than concealed. Kash, one of the co-founders, explained that traditional denim repair techniques and distinctive silver hardware were used to bring this narrative to life. They have developed a deep appreciation for Jabba’s style and energy, and witnessing him perform in the custom YIB x Levi’s® outfit was both satisfying and rewarding. Each stitch held intention, and seeing it come alive on stage made all their efforts worthwhile.

1) The performer wore a unique trench coat adorned with custom denim patchwork – an exclusive outfit fitting for an extraordinary performance. Kicking off the night, he played his songs “X Games,” “Serak” and “Kalah”. He then dedicated a heartfelt ballad to his fiancée, named “Stargirl”. For this show, he showcased a blend of his music collection, taking us back musically to the past, while also demonstrating that the future holds promise for other budding Singaporean artists.
As a devoted fan, I couldn’t help but be thrilled when I found out that this incredible event would also feature an exclusive Levi’s® Tailor Shop. This unique setup allowed us attendees to not only buy our own merchandise, but also have it customized with one-of-a-kind patches designed by the local studio Tell Your Children. What a fantastic way to add a personal touch and show off my fandom!
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that my journey with FAM (Future Asian Music) will carry on in Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur! This exciting chapter of our music community will be captured in a mini docu-series, offering an intimate look into each artist’s growth and striving to elevate their reach on a global scale.
