Lately, Julia Garner chatted with ComicBook.com for a promotional chat on her impending horror flick titled Wolf Man. In this discussion, she was inquired about her excitement regarding entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing the Silver Surfer role in The Fantastic Four: Initial Journeys.
When asked what caught her attention as she readied herself for the film, she responded, “To be truthful, its sheer size is striking. With such a vast universe at play, I can’t help but feel incredibly grateful to contribute even a small part to it.” Additionally, she praised the other cast members of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, stating that the talent assembled was “simply phenomenal,” and expressing her admiration for the entire ensemble.
Apart from commending the film’s director, Matt Shakman, she expressed her admiration by describing him as “remarkable.” As she shared her enthusiasm, it became clear that she looks forward to contributing to the continually expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to a Deadline report, Julia Garner has been chosen for the role of Shalla-Bal, the female Silver Surfer, in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, set for release in April 2024. This character is the empress of Zenn-la and the love interest of Norrin Radd, who was portrayed as Silver Surfer in the 2007 movie Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Shalla-Bal made her debut in Marvel Comics in August 1968, and she was created by Stan Lee and John Buscema.
