Fantastic Four’s Galactus Actor on What He Did to Play Galactus in First Steps

In an exclusive interview, Ralph Ineson, set to portray Galactus in the forthcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”, discussed his approach to embodying this colossal cosmic entity. This upcoming movie will be the second live-action cinematic appearance for Galactus, following a brief stint in 2007’s “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,” where the character was primarily shown as a cosmic cloud and remained silent.

How Ralph Ineson changed his approach to acting to play Galactus in Fantastic Four

In a recent chat with DiscussingFilm, Ineson revealed that he climbed tall buildings and navigated through Alpine tunnels as part of his preparation to grasp the essence of Galactus. According to him, immersing himself in such experiences was essential to convincingly portray a cosmic entity.

Ineson pointed out that it’s challenging to employ his typical approach to create a character for Galactus due to the sheer scale of the character. He stated, “You can’t determine whether he’s married or not, if he has children, what drinks he orders at the pub – these are usually the questions asked to help develop a character.

Ineson points out that conventional methods don’t suit a cosmic figure like Galactus due to his immense longevity in time. To emphasize this, he reminisced about observing the world from the perspective of tall buildings, suggesting this was how Galactus would view our planet. He found it useful for understanding the colossal scale of Galactus.

The actor additionally shared that he’d traversed the Alps’ tunnels, envisioning them as Galactus’ mighty throat. He went on to say, “Imagine how colossal and formidable it must be! Consequently, we need to tackle situations with a new perspective.

On July 21, 2025, the initial showing of The Fantastic Four: First Steps takes place at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. American cinemas will screen it for the first time on July 25, 2025.
