Fantasian isn't Hironobu Sakaguchi's last game after all

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for the legendary Hironobu Sakaguchi and his masterpieces, I must admit that my heart skipped a beat upon hearing the news of his upcoming project. The man behind Final Fantasy and Mistwalker’s Fantasian isn’t hanging up his game developer hat just yet!

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but share my excitement as it appears Hironobu Sakaguchi isn’t ready to hang up his game-making hat just yet after the release of Fantasian Neo Dimension on mobile platforms! Contrary to his earlier statement about retirement post-Fantasian, this legendary creator of Final Fantasy has recently disclosed that he’s been working on a new project with a team. While the details are still under wraps, he’s expressed contentment with how development is shaping up.

In a recent chat with Famitsu, the legendary creator, Sakaguchi, delved into the intricacies of Fantasian Neo Dimension and beyond. He hinted at potential new work towards the end of last year, but this week, he confirmed that he’s part of a team embarking on a fresh project!

Fantasian isn't Hironobu Sakaguchi's last game after all

In 2021, Sakaguchi and his studio Mistwalker launched Fantasian on Apple Arcade. This holiday, the game will be available on various platforms under the title Fantasian Neo Dimension. The original game has garnered positive reviews for its exceptional world design, engaging characters, innovative battle systems, and a stellar soundtrack by Nobuo Uematsu, a notable figure in the Final Fantasy series. While most of the Fantasian team is currently working on a new project from Sakaguchi, it remains to be seen if they will collaborate on another Uematsu soundtrack. However, Sakaguchi has shared that he intends to express his excitement for an upcoming grandchild in his upcoming game.

We can’t wait to see what shape it takes, but we’re thrilled that Sakaguchi is enthusiastic about his latest venture! Keep an eye on our Mistwalker section at Shacknews for further developments and updates.
