Is Taylor Swift working on The Bodyguard remake?
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve been hearing some exciting rumors swirling about Taylor Swift potentially joining the cast of the upcoming Bodyguard remake. But here’s the thing, there’s no official word yet on whether these whispers are true or not. You might recall, the original film dropped back in 1992 and featured the incredible Whitney Houston alongside Kevin Costner.
A fresh adaptation is being developed, with Sam Wrench at the helm. Previously, Wrench collaborated with Swift on her critically acclaimed concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (2023), which has sparked speculation that she might be cast as the main character in this upcoming remake.
Tyra Banks shared her thoughts during her stint as a guest host on Today with Jenna & Friends regarding the remake. She expressed, “I believe Taylor Swift, given her business acumen and artistic talent, would have an incredible success in selling this project.” Additionally, she proposed a unique twist for the casting.
She frankly admitted, “I’m going to tell it like it is. I’m a Black girl, just like Whitney Houston, and Kevin Costner was a White man. If we switched things around, imagine Taylor Swift as the lead and Idris Elba? That would be hot!” Banks also shared that she’s discussing a different movie project with Elba and suggested they often chat on WhatsApp.
Back in 2019, I shared the stage with Elba in the musical Cats, and it looks like our paths might cross again. In fact, a piece of my voice made it into one of her songs, “London Boy.” As for whether I’ll be part of the remake, it’s still up in the air, but fans can’t help but get curious and pumped about the prospect!
