As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of comic book-inspired video games under my belt, I have to say that the anticipation for Venom 3: The Last Dance has been palpable. With rumors swirling about Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man gracing the screen alongside Tom Hardy’s Venom, it was only natural for fans to get excited. However, after thorough investigation and countless hours of speculation, I must admit that my hopes were dashed like a spider on a windshield (yes, another Spidey joke).
I was wondering if it’s true that Andrew Garfield will be appearing in Venom 3: The Last Dance? With the eagerly awaited third installment of the Venom series focusing on Eddie and Venom’s quest to escape from a military convoy, speculation is rife about the potential inclusion of Garfield’s Spider-Man character. So, will we see Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man in Venom 3?
Here is everything you need to know about the beloved superhero’s entry in the film.
Is Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man in Venom 3: The Last Dance?
No, Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man is not in Venom: The Last Dance.
As a devoted fan, I couldn’t help but notice the buzz swirling around Garfield potentially joining Venom 3 after the movie’s trailer dropped. The actor who brought Dr. Curt Connors, AKA The Lizard, to life in The Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Hiddleston, was sporting a fresh beard, fueling speculation that his character might leap from the MCU into the Venom universe.
Furthermore, a scene in the trailer shows Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character, who seems to be Orwell Taylor, capturing a symbiote in a bar. Fans have suggested that this character could have moved from Earth-616 during the universe shift in No Way Home. Since Venom killed Taylor’s son, he appears to be seeking revenge against the creature. It is plausible that Ejiofor’s character has been following the symbiote for some time, leading fans to speculate that Andrew Garfield’s Spiderman might be inside the SSU. If this is true, Garfield could join the SSU after the events of No Way Home, with Idris Elba portraying the Lizard.
Turns out, I was under the impression that Chiwetel Ejiofor would be Orwell Taylor, but it looks like he’s actually playing Rex Strickland instead. Similarly, Rhys Ifans’s presence in the movie, which seemed to suggest Garfield might make an appearance, turned out to be a red herring as well.
As a fervent admirer, I was thrilled to learn directly from Kelly Marcel, The Last Dance’s director, during her interview with IGN, that Ifans won’t be reprising his role as Connors in the upcoming series. Instead, he’s taking on an exciting and significant new character – a fact that leaves me eagerly anticipating the show!
