Fans Blame Blake Lively for ‘Ridiculous’ Hat in Another Simple Favor

Once more, Blake Lively finds herself at the heart of fan uproar – this time over a hat. A snippet from her latest movie, titled Another Simple Favor, has sparked internet buzz due to the oversized, ostentatious sunhat worn during a dramatic scene entrance. Web users are poking fun at the headpiece as “preposterous”, and some believe Lively herself is responsible for the design choice.

Blake Lively faces backlash over hat in Another Simple Favor

In the movie Another Simple Favor, Emily Nelson, played by Blake Lively, makes an impressive entrance down a grand Italian staircase, adorned in an extravagant sunhat with a broad brim. This oversized accessory quickly caught the eye of viewers, prompting one fan to label it as “over-the-top,” while others humorously suggested that it resembled a prop from a satire or parody production.

People expressed their opinions on social media about Blake Lively’s movie poster, with one person commenting, “If I hadn’t known anything about the film and just saw the poster, I would have thought it was a spoof due to the enormous size of Blake Lively’s hat.” Another user wrote, “Blake Lively seems to believe she’s Carrie Bradshaw in that extravagant hat. Another Simple Favor,” while another joked, “I need a Saturday Night Live skit where the hat keeps expanding.” Yet another person humorously stated, “Four crew members went hungry because of that hat.

It was rumored that Lively was responsible for selecting the distinctive hat. As it turns out, these suspicions proved true. During the SXSW Film & TV Festival premiere in March, Lively confessed to having personally chosen the hat from a modest shop in Capri, Italy, while filming. “That wild, beautiful hat was simply something they sell in the store,” she said jokingly. “People buy it! It’s incredible.” (Source: People)

For the movie “Another Simple Favor,” Renée Ehrlich Kalfus, the costume designer, revealed to People that instead of the smaller hats they initially planned, Lively stumbled upon the now-famous large hat in a store. She explained, “We had smaller hats, but somehow she found that one hidden in the corner of this small shop.

She commented, “Such instances are what I’d call fortunate surprises. If you remain adaptable and receptive, why not seize them when they present themselves?” Director Paul Feig also applauded Lively’s dedication to the costume, referring to her as a “true movie star” for her skillful handling of the hat during the scene and her ability to move through the city with it.
