Fans Aren’t Happy With This Fantastic Four: First Steps Teaser Trailer

The initial trailer for the forthcoming MCU film titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will debut on February 4, at both 4 a.m. Pacific Time and 7 a.m. Eastern Time. Earlier, Marvel released a short, 20-second teaser to stir excitement even more. However, this sneak peek has garnered some criticism too, with viewers expressing concerns on social media about the high level of children’s laughter in the clip.

Fantastic Four fans aren’t happy with the First Steps teaser’s ‘stock sound’

Today, Marvel unveiled a sneak peek at the official trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This short clip captures a group of kids, filled with joy and giggles, huddling around TV sets to witness the iconic team preparing for a space mission. The teaser’s atmosphere reflects a blend of futuristic and retro aesthetics, mirroring the movie’s expected theme.

Nevertheless, the video has faced significant backlash from online viewers, who believe it excessively relies on a common sound effect of children’s laughter.

Previously known as Twitter user @RohnJobert expressed their critique towards Matt Shakman, the director of the movie, and pointed out the usage of stock audio. In a playful manner, they jokingly commented, “I’m the director of Fantastic Four, and I was granted a budget for just one ‘children laughing’ stock sound, repeating it as many times necessary.

As an ardent X user like Awot2018, I found the children’s joyful giggles and the frequent instances of their laughter to be the standout elements that caught my attention in the trailer.

In addition, film reviewer Jeff Zhang from Strange Harbors commented on the frequent use of repetitive background music, stating that it was heard no less than three times in just 20 seconds. Moreover, he pointed out that Disney had seemingly reached unparalleled levels of disregard for their audience’s experience.

@El_Crazyknight expressed appreciation for the “visual aesthetic” of the teaser, but also pointed out their disapproval of the frequent use of a stock sound effect of children’s laughter. They humorously suggested that movie editors in Hollywood should be made aware that the use of a generic child’s laugh is no longer effective in 2025, let alone being used repeatedly.

After debuting, the video has amassed countless views on various social media sites, fueling excitement even amidst criticism. On July 25, 2025, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will hit U.S. cinemas.
