2022 saw Fanatics Collectibles securing ownership of the well-known trading card brand, Topps. Now, they’re strengthening their European presence by launching their first-ever flagship store in London.
With the acquisition of popular trading card brand Topps in 2022, Fanatics Collectibles is expanding its footprint in Europe. This expansion will be marked by the opening of their inaugural London flagship store.
Situated on the bustling shopping avenue of Regent Street, the “Home of the Hobby” – a unique first in the UK focused exclusively on the expanding line of trading cards and sports memorabilia from this brand (including Merlin, Match Attax, and Topps), was unveiled. The aim is to foster growth in the collecting hobby through this store, as stated by David Leiner, President of Trading Cards for Fanatics Collectibles. He explained that the store aims to bring together veteran collectors and those new to the hobby, creating an engaging retail environment.
As soon as you enter the store, you’ll find yourself face to face with an impressive “Central Display” showcasing some extremely rare sports cards from teams like NFL and Formula 1, along with a spot where you can design your very own personalized trading card. Taking things a step further into the digital realm, there’s a cutting-edge “Breaker Studio” made up of screens and cameras that broadcast content live through Fanatics Live, a platform linking local fans to the thrill of live sports with instant access to unique releases, breaks, and insider tales.
Prior to its grand opening last Friday, Fanatics gathered local enthusiasts and collectors for an exclusive sneak peek at the store. They also extended an invitation to Lewis Hamilton to officially inaugurate the venue. The VIP event in the evening provided a glimpse into how the space will serve as a community center, featuring interactive activities in one area, while another section hosted a live recording of the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, featuring Premier League footballers Dominic Solanke and Tosin Adarabioyo.
