It’s quite awkward to see famous people who think they’re morally superior preaching to the general public about politics and ethics, and the most recent example of this awkwardness is from the left-leaning talk show “The View,” where the hosts yet again showed how out of touch they are with reality and their viewers.
As a film enthusiast, I find it intriguing to observe Jane Fonda’s stance during award ceremonies like the SAG Awards. Known for her political activism that often sparks controversy, she used her acceptance speech to advocate for “wokeness” and empathy. While I respect her freedom to share her progressive ideologies, it’s challenging not to perceive this as another instance of Hollywood celebrities presuming superior understanding over the audience they claim to connect with.
Hollywood hasn’t learned a damn thing.

The state of affairs became more complex when “The View” chose to analyze Fonda’s speech. Notably, Sunny Hostin argued that it is inconsistent with being a good Christian to be against being ‘woke.’ Hostin asserted that such a stance is ungodly and not in line with Christianity, seemingly overlooking the fact that Christianity has a long history of charity and compassion that predates the contemporary idea of ‘wokeness.’
It’s quite frustrating, indeed, when people who aren’t deeply knowledgeable about religious matters try to preach Christian morals to others. And the hypocrisy of secular figures claiming expertise in righteousness only when it aligns with their political views isn’t missed by a lot of spectators.
As a fan, I find myself often questioning if the hosts of “The View” remember that their role is to provide entertainment, rather than to criticize or belittle those who hold different beliefs or opinions. Their attempts to link political ideologies with moral righteousness not only seem off base but could also unintentionally drive away viewers from various backgrounds.
Ultimately, this episode underlines once more the widening gap between Tinseltown’s echo and the broader United States. Maybe it’s high time for these stars to break free from their insular world and genuinely heed the voices they purport to speak for, instead of instructing them on what to believe or act upon.
