Actor Damson Idris, known for his role in Snowfall, has spoken up about the whispers surrounding his possible discussions with Marvel Studios regarding the character of Black Panther. After the tragic and untimely passing of Chadwick Boseman, the 2022 film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever featured Letitia Wright’s Shuri as the new Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It’s been whispered that the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film may introduce a second Black Panther character, with many speculating this could be T’Challa’s son. Another intriguing theory circulating is the possibility of another incarnation of this cherished hero making an appearance in Doomsday.

During a recent interview with Today, when asked about the possibility of meeting with Marvel Studios to play Black Panther, Idris Elba responded ambiguously by saying “Yes — no.” Moreover, in response to the interviewer’s follow-up question about signing on for the role if offered by Marvel Studios, he affirmed his interest by saying “Yes.
Idris Elba is primarily recognized for his main character in the TV series Snowfall on FX, which concluded after six seasons in 2023. Following this, he will appear alongside Brad Pitt in an upcoming Formula One film. Additionally, he’s scheduled to star in the upcoming film adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone.
Currently, Wright is working on the filming of Avengers: Doomsday, joining cast members Winston Duke (M’Baku) and Tenoch Mejia Huerta (Namor), who are reprising their roles from Wakanda Forever. This movie is being helmed by directors Joe and Anthony Russo, the same duo from Avengers: Endgame, using a screenplay penned by Stephen McFeely. The impressive lineup of actors includes MCU veterans like Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Simu Liu, and Hannah John-Kamen. Notably, Robert Downey Jr. is returning to reprise his role as Doctor Doom in this production.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to debut on December 18, 2026.
