The four-part animated series titled “Eyes of Wakanda,” which was scheduled to debut on Disney+ on August 27, 2025, under Marvel Animation, has been postponed.
Since Marvel initially announced the Black Panther prequel series in December 2023, there have been several changes to the release dates for Eyes of Wakanda. Originally, it was slated for a 2024 release, but later, an August 6, 2025 release date was revealed, which was then adjusted to August 27, 2025. As August draws near, Marvel has now made another adjustment to the release date.
What is the new Eyes of Wakanda release date?
According to Entertainment Weekly, the Marvel animated series “Eyes of Wakanda” is set to debut three and a half weeks earlier than expected, on August 1, 2025, exclusively on Disney+. Instead of being released weekly, all four episodes will be available simultaneously, enabling fans to enjoy the entire series in one continuous viewing.
Instead of Eyes of Wakanda being like Marvel’s earlier animated shows – What If…?, X-Men ’97, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man – it is set within the continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), making its four-episode storyline consistent with the live-action Black Panther films. Described as an action-packed adventure series, Eyes of Wakanda follows the Hatut Zaraze, valiant Wakandan warriors who embark on perilous missions to recover Vibranium artifacts from enemies of Wakanda.

The voices in Eyes of Wakanda include Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Patricia Belcher, Lynn Whitfield, Jona Xiao, and Anika Noni Rose, among others. More recently, Xiao has hinted at the breadth of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series, stating, “This show delves deeper than just an expansion. It’s a fascinating examination of Wakanda’s secrets and history. You’ll get to witness how Wakanda subtly influences world events, which is quite intriguing, through the Hatut Zaraze. If you enjoy the Dora Milaje, you’re going to be captivated by this team of undercover warriors.
Ryan Coogler, who created Black Panther (2018) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2023), is also an executive producer of the upcoming project Eyes of Wakanda. He works alongside Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, Kalia King, and Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt on this production.
All four episodes of Eyes of Wakanda drop onto Disney+ on August 1, 2025.
