The film titled “Sallywood” tells a real-life tale of a man who crossed paths with Sally Kirkland. Already garnering an impressive 38 awards at various festivals, this movie will soon be screened in select theaters across California.

What happens in the Sallywood trailer?
As a gamer, I’d rephrase it like this: I find myself in the shoes of Zack, a guy on an unexpected journey to LA. There, I meet Sally Kirkland and, in a twist of fate, I’m hired as her new assistant right then and there. This role opens up a world of knowledge about the star that surpasses anything I could have envisioned beforehand.
The plot is based on a real-life story about a young writer from rural Maine. This tale was significantly influenced by Sally Kirkland’s captivating performance in the underestimated film, Anna (nominated for an Oscar, Independent Spirit Award, and winner of the 1988 Golden Globe). Driven by this inspiration, Zack decides to chase his dreams in Hollywood. After a transcontinental journey, he serendipitously encounters his lifelong idol, who happens to be in trouble career-wise just as he arrives. Immediately hired by Sally, Zack soon realizes her career is struggling. He becomes determined to help her regain her place on the red carpet.
In this movie, Xaque Gruber is both the screenwriter and director. The actors featured in it are Kirkland, Tyler Steelman, Tom Connolly, Eric Roberts, Lenny Von Dohlen, Kay Lenz, Michael Lerner, Maria Conchita Alonso, Keith Carradine, and Jennifer Tilly.
In the gaming world, I’d say: “I’m playing a game that was crafted by Steven J. Wolfe, with Kirkland, Joann M. Scuderi, Jill Demby Guest, Elaine J. Constantine, Fae Kopacka, Angeline Rose Troy, Doris Davis, Richard Lambert, and Diane Thelen all playing key roles as executive producers.
Sallywood will be screened for one week starting from November 8, 2024, at Laemmle Town Center 5 in Encino, Los Angeles. Additionally, there will be a public screening along with a Q&A session with the filmmaker and cast members at Santa Monica’s Laemmle Royal on Thursday, November 7, 2024, starting at 7 p.m.
