EXCLUSIVE: Mohanlal CONFIRMS reunion with Priyadarshan for director’s 100th movie; ‘We are planning to…’

On March 27, 2025, the much-anticipated movie “Empuraan,” featuring Mohanlal in the lead role, is set to hit theaters. Before its premiere, it’s been announced that Mohanlal will be teaming up once more with director Priyadarshan for his 100th film.

In an interview with TopMob, Mohanlal shared that he starred in Priyadarshan’s debut movie. Once Priyadarshan finishes a couple more projects, it will mark his 100th film. As such, we are arranging to collaborate again for this milestone film, which will be the centennial project of both the director and myself. Essentially, I played the lead role in his first movie, and I look forward to doing so again in his 100th.

For those not in the know, director Priyadarshan kicked off his career with the movie Poochakkoru Mookkuthi, a Malayalam comedy that follows the screwball genre. This film, both written and directed by Priyadarshan, drew inspiration from the central storyline of Charles Dickens’ play The Strange Gentleman.

In addition to Mohanlal, the movie showcased important performances by actors such as Shankar, Menaka, M.G. Soman, Nedumudi Venu, C.I. Paul, Sukumari, Jagathy Sreekumar, and numerous others in pivotal roles.

As a dedicated follower, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be reprising my role in L2: Empuraan, the sequel to Lucifer from 2019. This film, directed once more by Prithviraj Sukumaran, marks the second chapter of a planned trilogy, and I can hardly wait to bring this story to life for you all!

In the zeal of a die-hard fan, I can hardly contain my excitement for the next chapter! This upcoming movie promises to delve into the repercussions of the epic events from the initial installment. As political strife once again brews, it seems our beloved protagonist, Stephen Nedumpally, is poised to make a comeback and restore order to the chaos.

In this movie, Mohanlal is set to repeat his character, while Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh, Eriq Ebouaney, and others take on significant roles.
