Exclusive Moana 2 Clip: Dwayne Johnson Records ‘Can I Get a Chee Hoo?’

In the near future, ComingSoon will unveil an exclusive sneak peek of a song creation process for “Moana 2,” straight from the movie’s special features. Already popular as a digital release, “Moana” is set to hit shelves on March 18 in 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD formats.

What happens in the Moana 2 clip?

The latest snippet offers a glimpse into the making of the track “Can I Get a Chee Hoo?”, showcasing conversations with Dwayne Johnson, directors David G. Derrick, Jr. and Jason Hand, as well as songwriters Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear. They share insights about the creation of the song and its relevance within the movie’s narrative.

You can stream Moana 2 right away digitally, while the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD versions are set to release on March 18, 2025.

The movie brings Moana and Maui together three years later for a grand voyage with an assortment of unusual sailors, as mentioned in its synopsis. However, following an unexpected call from her navigational ancestors, Moana is compelled to embark on a journey across the vast Oceania seas and venture into treacherous, forgotten waters, facing challenges that she’s never experienced before.

In the helm for Moana 2 are directors David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller, who jointly penned the script with Jared Bush. The executive producers include Bush, Johnson, and Jennifer Lee, who were behind the original direction by Ron Clements and John Musker. This sequel not only proved a financial hit, grossing over $600 million, but also garnered praise from critics, receiving two Oscar nominations – Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.
