What is Love, Danielle about?

In the narrative, we find Danielle, a contented thirty-something wife, who discovers she carries a BRCA1 gene mutation, significantly increasing her likelihood of breast and ovarian cancer. This unsettling revelation causes Danielle to grapple with everyday life as she operates her bakery alongside her husband Pat, socializes with her oblivious best friends during game night, and watches her older sister Amy undergo chemotherapy for a breast cancer diagnosis. As the specter of cancer looms over her, Danielle ponders preemptive removal of her breasts and reproductive organs to avoid a similar fate. Her decision-making process is fraught with flashbacks of her tumultuous upbringing, marked by absent parents, strange anesthesia-induced dreams, and poisonous encounters with her recovering alcoholic mother and self-centered 70’s TV Western star father. In the end, Danielle must determine how to prioritize her health and well-being by putting herself first.

Marianna Palka serves as director for the movie titled “Love, Danielle.” In this production, Devin Sidell takes on the leading role of Danielle, and she also collaborated on writing the screenplay. The film draws inspiration from Sidell’s real-life encounters with a BRCA gene mutation.

In this movie, Jaime King portrays Amy, Lesley Ann Warren takes on the role of Candie, Michael Roark is cast as Pat, Barry Bostwick plays Bryce, Ian Owens acts as Rob, Palka appears as Misty, Larry Clarke is Dr. Morgan, Raymond Cruz plays Stan, Kim Coles is Ellen, and Kelly Jenrette embodies Char.
