As a seasoned connoisseur of the supernatural, having spent countless nights huddled under my blanket, flashlight in hand, devouring tales of ghostly apparitions and unexplained phenomena, I eagerly anticipate the arrival of Oni Press’ Plague House #1. The prospect of a haunted house investigation led by an eclectic trio of ghost hunters, each with their unique perspectives, is not only intriguing but also reminiscent of those long, chilling nights of my youth.
Upcoming release, ComingSoon, will unveil a sneak peek of the initial issue of “Plague House” by Oni Press, an eerie comic with ghostly tales penned by author Michael W. Conrad and illustrated by Dave Chisholm.
In April 2025, you can expect the debut of Plague House, where we’ll join an intriguing team of three paranormal investigators – Jacob, Holland, and Del – as they delve into various eerie sites, aiming to substantiate the existence of the supernatural.
In “Plague House,” a unique team of paranormal investigators – Jacob, the spiritual guide, Holland, the doubtful one, and Del, the convinced believer – traverse haunted locations in search of evidence supporting the existence of the supernatural and expelling harmful spirits. The story goes that at the McCabe House, where a brutal quadruple murder took place, the team feels the lingering sorrow from the crime. As Orin McCabe serves his time in prison, Del communicates with the ghostly McCabe family to uncover what it takes to purge their restless spirits from the house…
In spring 2025, Oni Press will publish two more unspecified comics alongside “Free for All” by Patrick Horvath, with the release date set for March 2025. One of these projects is titled “Plague House,” a four-issue series that will cost $4.99 per issue and be available starting in April.

What is Plague House about?
Michael W. Conrad, a well-known author who’s worked on comics such as Wonder Woman and Double Walker, recounts an experience from his childhood: “I distinctly remember seeing a ghost in our family home,” he says, “floating in the living room, suspended there without a sound. It wasn’t a dream; the man was motionless in the corner, silently appealing for aid. Plague House is a story that responds to that plea and delves into the essence of hauntings, embedded memories, and the influence that locations can exert upon the living.
For the artwork at “Plague House”, we’ve got Dave Chisholm (known for his work on Miles Davis and the Search for Sound) on board, having bagged a Ringo Award in 2024 for his impressive contributions. Conrad, expressing his enthusiasm about their partnership, mentioned that he’s long been an admirer of Chisholm’s talent and is thrilled to collaborate with him.
For quite some time now, Conrad has admired Dave’s [Chisholm] artwork. He finds joy in introducing him to this corrupted setting and observing how he navigates through it. He hopes that Dave will make it through unscathed, and that readers can comprehend the perils this book embodies – not just for the characters within its pages, but also for us as creators.
