EXCLUSIVE: Is Allu Arjun replaceable in Pushpa franchise? Rashmika Mandanna responds

As a seasoned film enthusiast with a penchant for character-driven narratives, I can confidently say that Rashmika Mandanna‘s insights into the intricate world of cinema are nothing short of enlightening. Her life experience, coupled with her keen eye for detail, allows her to appreciate the nuances that make a film truly exceptional.

Right now, Rashmika Mandanna is overjoyed and floating on air due to the triumph of her movie Pushpa 2: The Rule alongside Allu Arjun. Amidst all the joyous festivities, she participated in a lively chat at TopMob Masterclass. In this Q&A session, she expressed her opinions about whether Allu Arjun’s character in Pushpa could be played by someone else.

Rashmika elaborated that the film “Pushpa” focuses heavily on character development. In her words, “I believe ‘Pushpa’ is a movie centered around its title character’s thoughts. Director Sukumar, being exceptionally talented, could have created it differently if another actor had portrayed Pushpa. However, given that Allu Arjun played the role, he tailored the film to complement Allu Arjun’s unique acting style and body language.

In her statement, Rashmika pointed out that Allu Arjun’s dance background gives him an innate sense of rhythm, which director Sukumar skillfully exploited in their film. She admired Sukumar’s ability to mold the story and the actor around each other, adapting the movie to suit how Allu Arjun naturally moves on set, incorporating these movements as character traits. Essentially, she praised Sukumar for his exceptional directorial skills in creating such deeply character-centric cinema.

Apart from sharing that she often nibbles her lower lip while pondering in reality, Rashmika disclosed an interesting detail: director Sukumar had spotted this habit and recommended incorporating it into her character. At first, she found the gesture seemed strange on-screen, but the filmmaker persisted, leading to its inclusion.

In her own words, as Rashmika, she shared that an observant detail about herself is biting her lip when deep in thought. Director Sukumar recognized this and suggested incorporating it into her character, which initially seemed unusual for on-screen portrayal but he persisted, saying “Srivalli does that.” Rashmika finds beauty in how a director blends aspects of the real person into a character, or vice versa. She concluded her thoughts on this subject.

On December 5, the highly-anticipated film Pushpa 2 opened in cinemas. The film, led by Sukumar, also starred Fahadh Faasil in a significant part.
