As a thrilled fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the premiere of an unique Hippo sneak peek, hailing from the quirky, riotously funny, and unconventional dark comedy coming-of-age film by Mark H. Rapaport.

In a humorous scene from the film “Kimball Farley’s Hippo,” the title character, a hippo, gleefully devours a birthday cake in a sloppy manner while discussing the ancient practice of warriors consuming their first kill’s heart. This is contrasted with his disagreement towards his mother, portrayed by Eliza Roberts, for not affording him respect due to his age (19) and citing that it’s written in the constitution he should be legally respected. This movie focuses on the maturation process of two step-siblings: Hippo, a teenager consumed by video games, and Buttercup, an immigrant from Hungary who is deeply religious and passionate about classical music. Similar to Aphrodite in Ancient Greek mythology, Buttercup’s love for someone goes unreturned – her brother is more interested in warfare and disorder. This leads to a hormone-fueled, humorous yet tragic tale that borders on the surreal, an experience you won’t forget unless you choose not to see it.

Who stars in Hippo?

In this production, Kimball Farley (from Ghost Hunt) plays Hippo, Lilla Kizlinger (Explanation for Everuir) is Buttercup, Eliza Roberts (National Lampoon’s Animal House) takes on Ethel, Jesse Pimentel (In the Moment) portrays Darwin, and Vann Barrett assumes the role of Dr. Lombardi. Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight) provides narration for this story.

The movie is helmed by Mark H. Rapaport, who collaborated on the screenplay with Farley. The executive producers are David Gordon Green, Danny McBride, Jody Hill, Brandon James, Charmaine Kowalski, and Julian Lawitschka.
