As a film enthusiast with a soft spot for poignant comedies and heartfelt dramas, I must say that the trailer for Drive Back Home has piqued my interest immensely. Having grown up in a small-town myself, I can relate to the dynamics of the characters portrayed in this movie. The brotherly bond, the familial strife, and the journey towards healing – all wrapped up in the frosty backdrop of rural New Brunswick in 1970, promise an emotional rollercoaster ride that I’m eager to embark upon.
Looking forward to sharing firsthand the unique trailer for the upcoming comedy-drama movie titled “Drive Back Home,” starring Emmy winner Alan Cumming. After making its worldwide debut at the 2024 Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival, the film is set to hit Canadian cinemas on December 6, courtesy of Photon Films. As for a U.S. theatrical release date, it has yet to be announced.
In the frosty winter of 1970, an unyielding plumber living in a secluded New Brunswick hamlet is compelled to journey a grueling 1000 miles on his rundown work truck to Toronto. His mission: to bail out his estranged, gay brother who’s been locked up for an indecent act in a city park. After their formidable mother demands it, they are reluctantly forced to embark on the return journey home together before tension boils over and tempers flare.
